WQED Uses Continental for HD Radio

On the Who’s Buying What page: Continental Electronics said two of its 816HD transmitters are being used by Pittsburgh’s WQED(FM) in a combined configuration as the station converts to digital.
“The transmitters, each of which is a unique one-box solution for simulcasting analog and digital signals, are being used together to achieve the station’s required 24.5-kW target output,” Continental stated. The station had been using a Continental analog box for two decades. Continental said the station is also looking forward to reducing multipath distortion, a common problem in the area for analog listeners.
The station DOE is Paul Byers.
