Comrex’s Gagl Hotline Service Is Now Available

The feature provides a 10-digit phone number capable of HD voice call quality

Comrex has announced its Hotline remote connectivity offering is now available for its U.S. clients. The feature supports HD voice audio quality for on-air use via a dial-in number.

Hotline was first revealed at last year’s NAB Show and is part of Comrex’s Gagl audio subscription service. Gagl works in conjunction with its IP audio codecs such as Access or BRIC-Link and allows connectivity through a web browser and has been available since 2023.

In a release, the audio manufacturer said Hotline takes its Gagl Standard feature set and allows a guest to connect in by dialing a 10-digit phone number, which is provided with a Hotline subscription. Four additional participants can connect using the standard browser-based link.

Comrex said Hotline is suitable for use cases such as VIP callers, a non-technical guest or a station reporter covering breaking news.

Providing flexibility for guests who can’t come into the studio was a driving force behind Gagl’s creation following the COVID pandemic,” the company said in the release.

If the caller is an AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon subscriber, the company said the carrier’s HD voice audio will be heard. The caller’s voice can be presented within the Gagl interface for on-air use or alternatively passed directly to a Comrex codec for unattended operation.

The Hotline service is available for $50 per month or $500 per year. Gagl Standard costs $35 per month or $350 per year.

Comrex said it has also released Gagl Solo, suitable for single participants to connect into a studio without the need for a paid subscription.

Gagl Hotline, Gagl Solo and additional Comrex products will be on display at April’s NAB Show in Las Vegas.
