From our Who’s Buying What page: Technical Services Group has installed new transmitters in the Rohde & Schwarz Training Center in Columbia, Md.

FM and TV transmitters installed at the Rohde & Schwarz Training Center in Columbia, Md.TSG is a broadcast engineering and commercial AV solutions provider. CEO Bo Hoover said Rohde & Schwarz approached them about updating the training center, formerly a showroom, to include the latest models.

“We basically designed a system that is very similar to what any broadcaster would find at their transmitter site. We mirrored a typical infrastructure, but it’s in a showroom.” The transmitters are not on the air but are functional to give students the opportunity for hands-on training.

TSG installed R&S THR9evo liquid-cooled FM radio and R&S TMU9evo air-cooled UHF transmitters.

During two-day training programs, students troubleshoot potential issues and get experience with the transmission systems.

The project involved installing operational transmission systems in a corporate office. Hoover said much of the work involved hiding parts of the infrastructure such as cooling lines and the heat exchanger infrastructure (below).
