CRA Holds Installers’ Workshop Focusing on DAB+

Commercial Radio Australia is sponsoring a DAB+ digital radio Installers’ Workshop for automotive aftermarket retail and installers.

The breakfast workshop on Feb. 20 will include information on DAB+ digital radio aftermarket products, how to optimize in-car reception and guidelines for antenna placement to receive the best digital radio coverage. It will also provide an update on DAB+ coverage and the status of the rollout.

In Australia vehicle manufacturers including Toyota, Lexus and Hino now offer DAB+ as standard in select new vehicle models; and Audi, BMW, Land Rover and Mercedes also provide DAB+ digital as an option in some models.

2012 statistics for commercial radio show 34% of radio listening occurs in the car, and CRA says the radio industry is eager to bring digital radio to these listeners.

“There are around 16 million registered vehicles in Australia, mostly with analog radios; the DAB+ digital radio aftermarket sector provides a great opportunity for aftermarket retailers, installers and manufacturers,” said Joan Warner, CRA CEO.

As vehicle manufacturers aim to implement global solutions, support for the DAB+ standard by Japanese and European vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket receiver manufacturers will also be available soon in Australia.

“The uptake of digital radio continues to climb and the industry’s goal throughout 2013 is to ensure as many cars and other devices include DAB+ digital radio,” said Warner.

Aftermarket retailers and installers should email info@commercialradio.com.au for more details or to reserve a spot.
